What is espresso — and how is it different from regular coffee?

The grinder

If you're using a semi-automatic or manual machine, a quality burr grinder is just as important as the machine itself — arguably more so. Pre-ground coffee loses most of its aromatic compounds within minutes. Blade grinders produce uneven particle sizes that make consistent extraction impossible.
